describing players.

players that are perceived
to be either weak, stupid,

"fish" or "donkeys" at a

table. These are players who

sake of calling. These folks
don't typically have any

standards, so they are

Likewise, you will hear good
players described with
names, as well. Where a bad
player might be known as a
calling station, a good
player could be referred to
as a "rock". These people
are steady, solid, and
they're known to grind their
way to a pretty good living.
Besides just the player
names, poker lingo includes
some alternative names for
different hands. Any
combination of ten and two
is known as the "Doyle" or
the "Brunson" and is named
after legendary player Doyle
Brunson. Texas Dolly, as he
was known, won a World
Series of
Poker
championship with that hand.
When you get dealt Ace-King,
you've also got a hand worth
naming. That one is either
"Big Slick" or in some poker
circles, it is the "Anna
Kournikova", because it
looks good, but never wins.
The best poker lingo is made
up on the fly, and some of
it isn't even publicized.
For every poker home game or
poker tournament
group, there are special
nicknames and words that fly
around. For people watching
on the rail, these rocks
might as well be speaking
Chinese, because the words
coming out of their mouths
don't appear to have any
coherent meaning and they
don't follow any logical
linguistic pattern. That's
